Kalligrafie is net zo zeer een onderdeel van de Shaolin cultuur als kung fu. Het verreisd dezelfde focus en alleen na lange beoefening zal de perfectie zich gaan uiten.

Op 19 oktober bent u van harte welkom om de Chinese kalligrafie te komen ervaren. Het word een les waarbij het schilderen van bamboe het onderwerp zal zijn.

De workshop wordt verzorgd door HsiuHsuan Huang uit Taiwan die naast traditionele Chinese opleidingen ook diverse westerse kunst opleidingen heeft gevolgd.

We starten om 14:00 en eindigen om 16:00 en de kosten zijn 30,- euro. Wacht niet te lang met aanmelden want er zijn slechts acht plaatsen beschikbaar.

‘Bamboo is an important icon in Chinese culture. It is an example of the harmony between nature and human beings. A well know poet, Su Shi (1037-1101), writes that one can live without meat but not without bamboo; life without meat would make one thin whereas a life without bamboo would become unsophisticated.

In this workshop we are going to practice calligraphy and drawing. The manner of drawing bamboo is similar to writing strokes of Chinese characters. For example when drawing bamboo, each section of the bamboo stem should be certain and straight; when drawing each leaves should be clear but not rash. Learning how to draw bamboo is a way of discovering oriental aesthetic. Through writing and drawing you start to see the space between strokes, the structure of the words and the beauty of the lines. It is not only a practice but also an awareness of being present.’
